On 2nd May Silva Screen is set to release JOHN BARRY - The Classic Scores, a comprehensive digital album centering on Classical John Barry scores.

One of the Hollywood greats, with five Oscars to his name, John Barry’s career spans over half-a-century and 100 films. Today, Barry is defined by 12 James Bond scores, with other outstanding musical achievements including Midnight Cowboy, Out Of Africa and Dances With Wolves.

This extensive compilation features John Barry’s classically sounding film music output, soundtracks from six films - The Lion In Winter (Oscar winning score), Mary Queen Of Scots, Robin And Marian, The Last Valley, Walkabout and Zulu.

These reissues have received critical acclaim across the world from film music fans and are gathered together in one set for the very first time.

Performed by The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

John Barry: The Memorial Concert - June 20, 2011, 7.30PM
The Royal College of Music, London have announced the John Barry Memorial Concert on the home page of their website.

All information about the concert can be found here and in full on the RCM John Barry web page:

To make a separate donation towards The John Barry Scholarship for Film Composition or to purchase VIP tickets, one can download the booking form from the RCM website.

Friends and fans of Barry’s are welcome to attend the concert by purchasing tickets available from 15th April from the Royal Albert Hall box office 020 7589 8212  (open 9am – 9pm) or book online at , See Tickets  0844 811 0051, Ticketmaster 0844 844 0444.

City Screen Cinema in York tribute to John Barry

The City Screen Cinema in York will be holding a tribute to John Barry, opening with Seance on a Wet Afternoon at 5.30pm on Sunday, 10th April. The screening will be introduced by York composer Christian Vassie. Midnight Cowboy will be shown on April 17th at 8.00pm, followed by Walkabout, on April 26th at 6.15pm. Tickets can be purchased online at the above address.
