Broadcaster and concert producer Tommy Pearson has revealed via Facebook that he is currently working on a new double CD of John Barry music:
"So proud and excited that a project I've been working on for the last few months with my dear friend Pirmin Zängerle has finally - at the 3rd attempt (thanks to Covid) - started recording!
A new double-CD of music by John Barry, played by the City Light Symphony Orchestra and Anthony Gabriele in the fabulous acoustic of the KKL, Lucerne.
I am co-producing the CD with Pirmin and I edited, digitised and prepared the vast majority of the music with final prep done by the amazing Lillie Harris. Acres of fabulous music, of course, mostly taken from the JB originals plus orchestrations/arrangements via Nick Dodd and Nic Raine. Liner notes will be by Jon Burlingame and there will be a special introduction written by Laurie Barry.
We are also recording some extra James Bond tracks by the 'other' Bond composers, including David Arnold, Marvin Hamlisch, Michael Kamen and John Altman that will be available as download extras.
I'm gutted that I can't actually be at the sessions (because of Covid restrictions, of course). But everything is in the best hands."

"An uplifting family drama based on the real life experiences of Robin Lee Graham who, at the age of sixteen, began a solo circumnavigation of the world in his small boat – the youngest person ever to do so."
"Kritzerland is proud to present a new 2-CD set, a live soundboard recording of the infamous musical:
LOLITA, MY LOVE - Music by John Barry Lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner.
Back in the 1970s, producer Bruce Kimmel came into possession of a complete soundboard tape in pretty decent sound. And it is from that tape, possibly first generation, from which this CD has been mastered. For this release, all the major songs have separate tracks and all the dialogue has separate tracks. That way, one can program the CD however they like just the score or hearing it all. Mastering engineer, James Nelson, has worked his magic, smoothing out the levels and making it all of a piece."
"Quartet Records, in collaboration with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Capitol Records, Universal Music Enterprises and the Phil Ramone estate, present an expanded 2-CD edition of the iconic score for the landmark film MIDNIGHT COWBOY, directed by John Schlesinger in 1969, starring Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight, and winner of three Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
For this new Quartet release, the classic 1969 soundtrack album has been mastered from first-generation master tapes on Disc 1 and supplemented with new mixes made from recently discovered multi-track tapes, that includes some alternate song versions, different vocals of the Nilsson song, and alternate and single versions prepared by John Barry of his famous original theme. On Disc 2 we have included the music (both songs and score) as it appears in the film, mastered from mono elements vaulted at MGM. Score and album were in part different recordings; the harmonica solos, played by Toots Thielemans in the film, were played by Tommy Reilly on the album.
This collection has been produced, restored, mixed and mastered by Chris Malone, and the 24-page booklet includes authoritative and exclusive in-depth liner notes by Jon Burlingame."
Laurence Maslon has produced and hosted a radio program/podcast in the United States called "Broadway to Main Street" that celebrates theater music in all its various incarnations.
Occasionally, he does a throw to music from the cinema. He wanted to do a John Barry episode for a long time, where he could share some of Barry's stage music with his audience.
